OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
To develop the Art League as a strong, vibrant organization that is non-profit but adequately funded to accomplish all its goals. We work to promote active participation in our community to achieve focus on the arts as an important segment of the cultural community.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

As the heat of summer begins to wane and the weather folks remind us of the tropical threats, we know it is time to focus on our prized Ocean Reef.
You can rest assured the Art League has been hard at work preparing another outstanding art experience for this season. Once again, we thank the Palette Society and the Foundation at Ocean Reef for their vision and generosity that brought about the Art Leagues very existence and continues to sustain us. I am especially pleased to report that we have signed a five year agreement with the Foundation and its All Charities Event to mutually support each other. This support allows us to continually upgrade our 25 year old building and expand and upgrade our programs and workshops.
Our membership continues to be very strong. I recently learned that the Art League has the largest membership of all the organizations within our community. That fact alone motivates us to continue to build our classes, workshops and activities in quality as well as quantity.
For this coming year we have planned another outstanding Ocean Reef Art League Plein Air Paint Out that might even surpass last year’s extraordinary event. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the event. We are also pleased to announce a show in late February into March featuring the works of the late and renowned maritime artist John Stobart. Also featured at this show will be works of also renowned maritime artist Bert Wright of Great Britain.
The wonderfully equipped wood workshop will also see added instruction classes for men and women. The shop offers opportunity for independent woodworking by our experienced and trained members. Please take this opportunity to carefully review our website and select some activities and do consider a membership in your Art League.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Welcome back to another exciting season at the Ocean Reef Art League! Our calendar is jam packed with incredible new artists both teaching and exhibiting. We have added many new workshops, new excursions, classes, and our popular Pop-Up events. We hope you take note of all of the new exciting things we offer and find something that speaks to you!

The first show opening will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 5-7pm. This show will feature multiple new artists exhibiting paintings, handmade gemstone jewelry, shell art, pine needle baskets and much more.

We are very proud of the evolution of our beloved “Painting Ocean Reef” Plein Air event, as this year marks the 10th anniversary! As we welcome a new roster of plein air artists, we will also be welcoming back some of our favorites from years past. We can’t wait!

Look for more information about our Art Under the Tent event. Art League members will have the opportunity to re-home and re-place artwork that meets the exhibit guidelines.

There are a lot of exciting things in store this season and we hope that you participate. Whether you may enjoy attending a show opening reception, a book and lecture club meeting, a new workshop taught by a visiting instructor, a weekly class, shopping for unique gifts in our gift shop or dropping in to see what’s happening, we know that life is busy here at Ocean Reef Club, so we feel especially grateful when you choose to spend some of your time with us at the Art League.

Art League Open Studio

When there is not a class, workshop, or event taking place in one of the Art League’s many studios, the space is available to Art League Members to use. Art League members are permitted to bring their own projects and supplies to work in an available studio. However, supplies and tools offered to students taking a class or workshop are not available to Art League members taking advantage of open studio space. If a student that is currently enrolled in a workshop or class session, finds that they will need extra time to work on a project, they are able to take advantage of open studio time if there is not an active class, workshop, or event taking place in the studio.

Wood Shop Open Studio 

The Art League's Wood shop offers an extraordinary setup of benches and high quality machine tools for all of your project needs. The woodshop will be available to wood working enthusiasts when there is no scheduled workshop. The fee to use the woodshop for the season is $425. This is for the use of all tools and equipment while working in the shop.

  • To be eligible for Open Use without a qualified volunteer present, you must take a 2-hour safety course. Please contact the Art League at 305-367-2359 or artleago@bellsouth.net to schedule an appointment for the safety training.

  • Wood Shop Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm Beginning January, Saturdays 10:00am – 3:00pm

CANCELLATION POLICY
Because our instructors travel so far to teach here we must impose a cancellation policy.
• Should you cancel a class / workshop 8 to 15 days out, you will only be charged half of the fee.
• You will be charged the total fee if you cancel 7 days or less from the time of the scheduled class/workshop.
• You will not be charged if you find a replacement for your space in the class/workshop – if the event is sold out.
• If a minimum number of participants are required to run any class / workshop and that number is not met within 72 hours of the scheduled time, the class will be canceled, and you will not be charged.
